Giving Thanks

It is the time of year when we come together with friends and loved ones to give thanks, demonstrate gratitude, and appreciate what we have. At Four Athens, we have much to be thankful for year-round. As a primarily volunteer-fueled organization we are continuously impressed by the dedication of our startup members, not only to their own ambitious vision, but also to the spirit and well being of the Athens startup community at large. Likewise we are humbled to witness the support of our community volunteers and supporters, who help us connect kids and adults to tech education programs, link talented people in town to new career opportunities, and share the spark of innovation and entrepreneurship across Athens.

athenschilicookoffIn October, HW Creative Marketing sponsored the second annual Classic City Chili Cook-Off as a Four Athens benefit, and we were pleased to see such a variety of local companies, restaurants, and amateur chefs come together for a fun afternoon of competitive chili slinging. For everyone who came out for some great chili and to support our efforts here in Athens, we are grateful. Our sincere thanks to Richie Knight and the HW crew for making it happen.

gagiveslogoMost recently we want to thank everyone who participated in the Georgia Gives Day campaign on November 17th. We raised $2,826 (including matching funds) to continue to expand our tech education efforts. That momentum continues as we aim to reach 200 kids in the Spring of 2017 with the help of our Youth Scholarship Campaign. Consider supporting this effort as part of the upcoming Giving Tuesday on November 29th.

Other thanks this year go out to ATDC, HA&W, Thinc, UGA Entrepreneurship Program, Founder’s Legal, and AFB&T for another successful round of the Idea Accelerator in Fall 2016 (our biggest one yet), and the Athens Talent Partnership members-- including Rehabmart, Docebo NA, Roundsphere, Partner Software, and Peachtree Medical Billing-- for sponsoring the new Startup Internship Program launching in January 2017.

small-ath-startup-internship-program-logoWe wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving holiday this weekend, and we look forward to seeing you at the Four Athens Holiday Party, December 14th at The Globe.
